Social standards and amfori BSCI

Intercoop House & Garden joined the amfori Business Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) in 2017, which was the beginning of Intercoop’s sustainability activities. amfori is an association of over 2,400 members who are jointly committed to fostering greater sustainability in supply chains. Through shared standards and monitoring systems, the initiative helps members identify and mitigate social and environmental risks throughout their supply chains.

Around 95% of Intercoop’s suppliers in risk countries have valid amfori BSCI audits for their production sites. The audits are conducted by independent experts who verify compliance with standards in 13 key areas (labour rights, wages, safety, environmental protection, etc.). Intercoop takes responsibility for effective climate action

By implementing effective measures to reduce emissions (Scope 1, 2 & parts of 3 in acc. with the criteria of the GHG Protocol), Intercoop achieved an absolute reduction of 10% in 2023 compared to 2019.  In 2025, emissions were again on par with the level of 2019 due to one-time activities (incl. office renovation). Excluding these temporary impacts, emissions would have been 8% lower than 2023, indicating progress in reducing the climate footprint of our regular operations.

To make a further effective contribution to climate protection, IC financially supports high-quality climate protection projects corresponding to the amount of emissions generated over the financial year. Intercoop’s climate footprint is validated by Carbotech AG, an established sustainability consulting firm in Basel. All supported climate protection projects are externally verified through recognized standards.
